What are the differences between AC withstand voltage test and DC withstand voltage test?

AC withstand voltage test can perform voltage test immediately and basically no discharge is required after the test. DC withstand voltage test can measured products with capacitive loads.

What are the differences between withstand voltage test and insulated resistance test?

Insulated resistance test is to measure the resistance value between the conductor and the insulation layer. The greater the resistance value the better the insulation performance Typically, the value of insulation impedance (IR) must not fall below a certain megohm (MΩ). The test is usually conducted with a DC voltage of 500V or 1000V and the results are measured in megohm resistance (MΩ). The withstand voltage test is an insulation voltage test of insulation layer. The withstand voltage value test value is determined by the actual used voltage level , but the added voltage is higher than that of the insulation impedance (IR) test. And depending on the different requirements, it can be performed at AC or DC voltage. The results are measured in milliamperes (mA) or microamperes (uA).

How to select voltage in withstand voltage test?

Confirm the test requirements of the relevant safety standards before testing. Recommended voltage for general non-standard withstand voltage test = 1000V + 2 times the operating voltage (test time 60 seconds). For example, a product that works on 220V, the recommended test voltage is at least 1440V.
